MEETING MINUTES - JUNE 20, 2018

 

Meeting called to order @ 7:02 P.M.

Call to Order & Pledge of Allegiance

OLD BUSINESS:

Minutes of May meeting read by Jeff Lish, motion to approve minutes as read made and passed, minutes will be filed as read.

Will Pallo reminded everyone to sign in.

 Treasurers Report read by Richard, Motion to approve report made and passed, report will be files as read.

Jeff advised that new T-Shirts will be ordered this week, discussion on what sizes and styles made by members, Jeff will bring some for sale to July meeting – discussion on price still on the table.

 Report from Jeff on the events held last month:

 Memorial Day, great turn out and all had a good time, 7 nugget raffles was held and a metal detecting hunt as held. Motion made by Richard Root to make this outing a yearly function – to be put on the calendar for 2019 by Norma.

Victor Valley College run for Cancer had 10 members show up to help, raffle held gave us profit of $210 – half of that is to be donated to ACS as previously approved by board.

 Topaz School panning demonstration was nice by not as many volunteers, the gals from the Mining Supplies and Rock Shop taught the kids how to make jewelry.

 Pinion Hills Chamber of Commerce event was good, may go next year.

 Cottonwood School Panning demonstration date for event not finalized in time for us to get enough volunteers to attend – will try again for next year.

 

 Floor given to one our new members who invented a vile holder and will be selling them for $6.00 per set (holder and vile), he also advised that he is the one who started the group Hi Desert Gold Diggers long ago.

Norma advised some members still need to sign releases for the year.

Discussion on new event possible at VCC to be held by all school districts, members agreed that it would not be a good event for us due to the logistics involved in setting such a big event up.

 Bob Fredlund advised us on how many hits were made to our Au Mojave website, he and our webmaster Robert Downs to finalize Au Mojave website control- Bob will still work on GPAA website.

Mining Store brought items in a box free to all members, Cyndy advised to look during the break.

 Jeff opened discussion on new sign, sample was shown, and decision made on Horizontal sign as our next purchase. Motion made to purchase two signs by Leonard - motion voted on and approved.

BREAK – 7:29 p.m. to 7:55 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS

 Jeff Lish advised of new outing planned to Little Creek on 7/1, discussion on that outing not possible due to that claim not ours anymore – call will be made to Walt at GPAA to clarify and Jeff will advise members if outing is possible.

Richard Root advised that the board voted on Memorial Day, Thanksgiving weekend, and Labor Day weekend be made into yearly events and put on our calendar so that members can plan accordingly and participate. We also now have a formal CAMP COOK, Sharonann Halverson.

 Jeff reminded members that not much equipment is really needed for prospecting maybe a ¼” screen a shovel and some muscle so we ask all prospective members to attend our outings.

 Kim advised that he will be at 7 Jokers is anyone want to go.

EETING MINUTES - JULY 19, 2018

BOARD MEETING @ 6:15 P.M.

  Present: Jeff Lish, Richard Root, Norma Shearer, Hugo Mietzner, Robert Downs, also present Sharonann and Ray Halverson.

  Hugo wants board to approve donations from members for payment of filing fees ($20.00 yearly) for their privately-owned claim, 7 Jokers.

  Discussion ensued, majority of board approved that items must be discussed with all members for vote on this item.

  Jeff will look at GPAA book to see what items he wants club to purchase with our points, board agreed that small items would be good to give through the year and specially at our Christmas meeting, he will discuss and make purchases with Richard Root.

  Jeff – Our next outing will be to Little Crystal, more info to follow.

NEW BUSINESS

  Hugo – Discussed the need to file for 7 Jokers claim which is privately owned by him and six other members, amount is $20.00 yearly. He wants members to donate every time they visit claim. Long discussion ensued, issues to be further addressed by board for decision at next meeting.

  Richard - Advised members that Joan has donated items at the front of the room, the club will take donations of any amount for items taken.

Jeff – T-Shirts not ready yet, will have for next month’s meeting.

  Bob Fredlund – Advised that he submitted paperwork to GPAA on claims, they will pay us for it. Website has had over 1,729 hits. He is selling Alaska Gold Feaver DVDs for $20.00 will have at all meetings. Advised that has programs for Veterans, check it out when you go or at their website.

Lois Papner advised club that there is an article about their Rock Shop on the August issue of Rock&Gem Magazine, come by their store and get a copy.

OLD BUSINESS:

  Minutes of meeting: Minutes read by Norma, motion made to accept as read, motion passed, minutes will be filed as read.

  Treasurers Report: Report read by Richard, noted that he bought more raffle tickets and more plastic coins, plus 20 1oz. silver bars and 20 1oz. silver rounds plus plastic covers for coins. motion to accept report as read made and passed, report will be filed

  Jeff advised that the T-Shirts have not yet been paid for, also note that the new Mineing Guide will be here in 3 to 4 weeks, check and see that GPAA has your correct address, they sent emails to members to verify.

  Hugo – Question made about check for VVC cancer society, check not yet written by Richard - $104.00. Motion to approve amount accepted, cashier’s check will be made next week.

  Norma - A new Events calendar will be made and published by next meeting, she is handling all events so that dates are not made without enough notice given for volunteers/members to sign up. They will be posted on the website events calendar by our webmaster Robert Downs.

BREAK – 7:40 p.m. , Reconvened 7:50 p.m.

  Lois has program for the day / How to Pan for Gold. Hands on from all members that want to learn.

MEETING MINUTES April 17,2018

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurers Report given by Richard Root, motion to approve made to members- motion approved, report to be filed as read.

After the Vegas outing and raffle of a ¼ ounce nugget a deposit of $1,205 was made. Several items were paid, and the $500.00 check was given to Cooper House, chapter is doing well.

Minutes of meeting for last month were read by Norma Shearer, motion to approved minutes made to members – motion approved, report to be filed as read.

NEW BUSINESS

Jeff introduced Mr. Robert Sewell Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Victor Valley College who invited us to participate in this weekend event “Cancer Society's Relay for Life” at their activities center, they will have other vendors, the event will start at 10 a.m. Volunteer's raised their hands to participate in this event. Richard Root said a raffle at this event will take place and 50% of the profits will go to Cancer society.

Discussion on other events for the month (Serendipity at Topaz School 5/24) were discussed and board will need to zero down on who and when these events are scheduled so that we have enough time to get enough members to work the booths.

Resume meeting at 8:15 p.m.

Continued discussion on other events scheduled, lists of other events were passed around so that members could sign up to work booth – Only two signed up for Cottonwood Elementary 5/21, enough members are signed up for “Relay for Life” 5/19, need members to sign up for Pinion Hills 6/2.

Bob Fredlund advised that he would take equipment needed for booth set up to the college also mentioned that he will not be able to handle the storage locker or handle the booth event, due to illness and the need to help his sister in law out, he will continue to be rep for GPAA from afar.

Richard Root mentioned a planned outing on Memorial Day, signup sheet was passed around and info given on where to meet and what time it would start – Four people on list. A raffle will take place that day club will serve main meal, members take side dishes

Jeff gave floor to Norma who mentioned that Liability forms for this year needed to be turned in by many members, forms passed around for members to fill out, she will send out email form to others next week.

Also discussed was the need to replace Candy our sunshine lady who moved away. Someone needed to meet and greet new guests.

Price and look of new T-shirts for club was discussed, members want pockets on t-shirts more info to be gathered and board to discuss purchase at next meeting.

Member Richard Dreher has solar panels for sale – contact him if interested.

MEETING MINUTES April 17,2018

Meeting called to order 7:00 p.m.

Pledge of Allegiance

  Jeff then introduced the Chapter Board then asked if there were any new guest and had them introduce them self 7 where they were from.

  Jeff gave the minutes of the last meeting which was 2nd and carried. We had not Treasure report as our Treasure was in Vegas for the but we only sold a $20 GPAA Gold Show along with Hugo.

  A report on the Oro Grande Days was given by Bob & Will. Bob noted that we paid $60 for the booth but were only able to sell 1 - $20 dirt bag.

  Bob informed us that GPAA is shipping each chapter 5 copies of the new Chapter Catalog.

Break 7:35 – 8:00

  Rodger Madison gave a 45 min Power Point presentation on prospecting with a metal detector.

MEETING MINUTES MARCH 15,2018

Meeting called to order 7:00 p.m.

  Welcome and introduction of board members by Bob, information about the new president

(Jeff Lish) taking over the meeting after the break.

Sign in importance given (sign in helps us keep track of monthly attendance and puts members in the drawing for the Door Price). Introduction of guests requested, Rob ert Barton, from Hesperia-

Tim and Rosalyn Schultz from Wrightwood, and Ray and Yogie Caldera from Hesperia stood up to

introduce themselves. Bob also discussed AuMP member information packets available from

Norma at the table if one needed. Treasurers report read by Richard Root, Motion to approve, motion passed report will be filed as read, Minutes of last month meeting were read by secretary Norma Shearer, Motion to approve, motion passed report will be filed as read. Norma informed all members that new membership forms need to be filled out by all active members for the 2018 yearspecially releases to visit claims our existing forms are outdated. Forms will be at the table to fill out during the break. 

  Bob gave information on all items for sale by the club, see Richard if interested in purchasing any of the items. 

  Bob gave us a update on the hits made to our website since the Pomona Gold Show 725, review of attendance and events at the show was given by Bob, we had 10 members in attendance Saturday and 11 members on Sunday. The AuMP ran the speed panning contest to see how fast a participant could pan out 3 nuggets, Entry fee was $5.00. Fastest speed 6.5seconds by Tom Massie. (Will

Pallo informed us that he usually takes 7.08 seconds just to find the pan. Decent prices were

given out by GPAA to all the winners. Thanks to all who helped.

  Bob informed us on the discount price to Gold Kane Creek Camp for members if we can get 10 members to sign up--$2,815.50 per person plus airfare needs to be paid separate.

  Gold Show: Las Vegas 4/21 and 4/22 -Signup sheet at counter, Bob to follow up on attendance/volunteers.

  High Desert Shooting Fun Fair - April 28 from 10am to 4pm in Lucerne, Signup sheet at counter

for volunteers. We will have a panning booth and ill sell bags of concentrate, maybe show a metal detector and more – Set group meet at 8am. It will be at Lucerne Valley Lions Club. A special charity raffle will be held grand prize a model FMK 9CI GEN2 Pistol and a Ruger

American Rimfire Riffle, visit their website to purchase tickets, www.happytrails.org

  Lois Papner from the Rock Shop advised they need volunteers for an event 

at Maple Elementary put on by The Rock Shop for Monday April 23rd, sign up with them if interested.

  Bob mention the new points program described to him by Richard Robinson of GPAA, full

information will be on webpage for all members to review. If you sign up a new member you can now get 350 GPAA points out of our chapter 1365 points and you can order items from the GPAA product catalog with your points. The new catalog is now available check out the GPAA website,   Board need to vote on items that will be purchased with the points we now have accumulated

at GPAA and will inform members at next meeting.

  Reminder the importance of By-laws, all members should read - they are now available on the members only section of the website. Code to members only will not be given at meeting out loud (not all attending meeting are members) hard copy of bylaws will be made available upon

request.

  The board held a meeting before tonight’s general meeting and they voted on Bob Fredlund being named as GPAA liaison, he will keep the members informed and updated on all things related with

GPAA.

  The sale of tickets for the Happy Trails Children’s Foundation Banquet on May 19th in Victorville, if interested please visit their website www.happytrails.org they have many events going on. This is the charity our chapter donates to every year. 

  Reminder of a new law going into effect at the claims: You must cap all pipes used as claim corner markers in order to keep all animals safe from entering, and all pipes must be at least 3 feet tall.

  Jeff asked for a vote to start a FIND OF THE MONTH at our meetings, all members voted on

this, more info to be given at next month’s meeting as to who will run it.

  A suggestion box will be brought for next month’s meeting by Jeff, if  you have suggestion or ideas please make sure you use this new tool.

  Discussion of purchasing or coloring our Banner. Price and what size to be decided and voted on

by the board.

  Are there any outings this weekend? Richard advised that anyone can go to Coolgardie, he won’t

be there but will tell Gary he gave permission to dig there. Directions to site given to members

interested in going.

  Kim advised that there is an outing by ADK at the GPAA claim Saturday at 10 O’clock, hot dogs and hamburgers will be available site is 3 miles west of 495. 

  Roger of Route 66 chapter advised that there is another Alaska trip on July 21st the price

will be $1,300 per week, airfare and cost of quad separate – let him know if interested.

  Reminder to sign up as volunteer for the High Desert Shooting Fair 

  Norma passed out membership applications and releases to all members.

  Mike Ball would like to see the Claims Guide at our meeting to show new members, discussion was made about this item as not all members of our group are GPAA members – to be discussed further by board.
